MQM-P strikes last-minute agreement with PML-N

ISLAMABAD: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) will sit on the treasury benches in the National Assembly and vote for speaker’s candidate Ayaz Sadiq after striking a last-minute agreement with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Friday.

Both the parties signed a three-point according with focus on government formation.

PML-N’s Ahsan Iqbal and MQM-P’s Mustafa signed the agreements after talks between the two parties held at Ishaq Dar’s chamber in the National Assembly.

According to the details of the agreement, local bodies system, Karachi’s problems and constitutional amendments will be the party of the agreement.

In return, the Muttahida will support PML-N in the elections of the new prime minister and speaker.

Earlier, talking to the newsmen at the Parliament House, MQM-P leader Farooq Sattar opined that government formation will be completed somehow but running a government is a tough taks.

“It’s fraught with many tests and without national reconciliation this coalition will not move forward,” he said and added MQM’s only demand is to get passed a constitutional amendments bill.
