One third population of world is caught by TB: Tehmas

PESHAWAR: One third population of the world is caught by the Tuberculosis (TB) and 90 percent of the patients are residing in third world countries as TB is a dangerous but curable disease.

This was stated by the president TB Association Tehmas Khan while addressing a seminar regarding world TB Day here Sunday.

He further said that treatment of the TB is totally free by the government of Khyber Phaktunkhawa. Every person who is residing with or in the surrounding of a TB patient should examine him or herself, he said. Tehmas Khan maintained that every TB patient spreads the germs of the disease up to 15 persons surrounding to him.

Dr. Mumtaz while addressing at the occasion every year 9 million people caught by this deadly disease and 2 million entangled with death. “If a person is coughing that lasts three or more weeks, coughing up blood, chest pain or pain with breathing or coughing, unintentional weight loss, fatigue,  fever, night sweats and chills are the symptoms of the TB and the person should visit the doctor for proper checkup,” he added.

Dr. Mumtaz said that these are often signs of TB, but they can also result from other medical problems, your doctor can perform tests to help determine the cause adding he said.
