It is revenge in name of accountability: PML-N

F.P. Report

PESHAWAR: Senator and central leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Lieutenant General (Retd) Abdul Qayyum has said that PTI-led-federal government instead of focusing on improving monetary situation in the country has diverted its attention to take revenge from them in name of accountability.

This he said while talking to media persons in connection with “Meet the Press” on Tuesday at Peshawar press club. Chairman of Defense Standing Committee of Senate, Mr Abdul Qayyum said there is lack of democracy inside political parties and that politicians even could dare to voice over an issue with top leadership of parties.

“Every country could make development when its accountability system is based on justice and fairness and nobody is above the law” he opined. He castigated ruling PTI for its incompetency to improve economic situation in the country and saying it (PTI) only concentrates to push its opponents to walls and take revenge from them in the name of so-called accountability.

Counting a number of pro-people steps taken by the then PML-N led federal government, Mr Qayyum clearly said his party when came into power in 2013 was facing terrorism and intense emergency crisis.

But his government confronted the challenges of energy, extremism, petroleum prices and others by eradicating energy crisis successfully after end of their government’s tenure, he claimed.

He flayed Prime Minister Imran Khan for agreeing with Iran, Turkey and Malaysia over forming a block but later he (PM) backtracked from his stance and did not attend the conference under pressure. Prime Minister also talked about mediation between Saudi Arabia and Iran but later kept himself away from doing mediation, he alleged.

Presidents of Peshawar press club and Khyber Union of Journalists (KHUJ), Syed Bukhar Shah Bacha, Fida Khattak, PPC General Secretary Imran Yousafzai, Finance Secretary Aziz Buneria, Senior Vice President Shahzada Fahad and others were also in attendance on the occasion.
