F.P. Report

LANDI KOTAL: A protest demonstration against National Logistic Cell (NLC) was held here at Bacha Khan Square, in Landi Kotal bazaar on Monday.

Large numbers of political workers and local residents participated in the protest rally which was headed by Senator Taj Muhammad Afridi. They were carrying black flags and holding placards inscribed with sayings in favor of their demands. They chanted full-throat slogans like go NLC go, down to NLC etc.

Addressing to the angry mob, Senator Taj Muhammad Afridi including president Clearing Agents Association Torkham, Zerqeeb Shinwari, Awami National Party (ANP) leader Shah Hussain Shinwari, President Khyber Transport Association Shakir Afridi, District leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Abdurrazeq Shinwari and others said that NLC allegedly got hold of their property in Torkham and deprived thousands of local  residents from three times meals.

They blamed that NLC totally violated agreement signed with tribesmen of Khuga Khel while confirming it a piece of land in Torkham for erecting terminal.

“For people service we have  provided land, free of cost for construction of hospital, college, girls secondary school, grad station etc.but NLC is in Torkham for business purpose and we want our legal and as per agreement share in its profit,” they argued.

If NLC didn’t  meet their  demands till 23rd  of January as per agreement then they would begin agitation in Torkham in front of NLC office and would continue till get rid off of NLC.

The protesters wanted to march to Torkham to file their protest but they were halted by the Khasadar and Levies forces at Landi Kotal bypass road where they initiated sit-on and suspended Landi Kotal-Torkham road for all kind of traffic. However after assurance of the forces official that their grievances were convoyed to the high-up, the road was resumed for movement.
