Sidra to get free education, financial help for father

F.P. Report

TIMERGARA: The Al-Khidmat Foundation Lower Dir chapter reached the snow clad Laram top in Adenzai and promised the family of Sidra Bibi, 8 daughter of Amir Badshah to provide her free education and arrange a small business for her father.

A photo of the eight year old Sidra sitting on snow at the Laram top and selling dates, crackers etc to the tourists went viral on social media a few days ago. The small baby told a tourist that her family was unable to educate her and that she was supporting her father by selling dates and chocolates etc.

The AKF, a welfare organization of the Jamaat-i-Islami took notice of the footage of social media and announced to make necessary arrangements for Sidra education.

The AKF Lower Dir president Engineer Yaqub ur Rehman, JI district general secretary Musharaf Shah, activist Noor Rehman Saghir and others reached Laram Top with school bag, books, uniform and other household items.

The AKF team met the family of Sidra and provided her with books. The team also announced to arrange business for her father in the nearby area. The AKF also provided the family with food including wheat flour, rice, sugar, tea leaves, ghee and non-food items like warm clothes, blankets and sheets. The foundation promised to provide the child free education.

Talking to this scribe on Sunday, the AKF president Yaqyb ur Rehman said when his team reached the Laram Top, still covered with snow, the girl was selling dates and chocolates.

He said the girl footage had shocked his organization that planned to facilitate her. “Sidra will now go to school instead of selling dates to tourists,” Yaqub said, adding she belonged to very poor family and she had been earning very little to financially support her father, a daily wager.

He said she had four younger brothers and sisters. The AKF activist said his organization would also help support more such families in the district if any.
