Top ten position holder students of Dir gets cash prizes

TIMERGARA: The Lower Dir district nazim Muhammad Rasool Khan on Wednesday said his government had allocated adequate funding for youth encouragement in order to engage them in healthy activities and prevent them from going into the hands of militants.

He said this while addressing a talented students’ award show. The Lower Dir sports’ department arranged the event for Lower Dir students who got positions in top ten of the last SSC and HSSC examinations of the board of intermediate and secondary education Malakand.

The function was arranged by the district sports office which was also addressed by additional deputy commissioner Muhammad Irshad, district sports’ officer Bahadar Syed and Timergara tehsil nazim Riaz Muhammad.

Position holder students, their parents, area elders, schools’ heads and teachers attended the function. The nazim said that the district felt proud of its talented youth and his government would never disappoint them. He said the successive governments had set up a network of educational institutions including colleges and universities after 1970 as education was prohibited before the merger of Dir state with Pakistan.

The ADC Irshad said the youth played vital role in country development. He said it was the responsibility of the government to provide quality education to the children. The positions holders were given cash prizes on the occasion.
