UAE supports efforts for stability in Afghanistan

KABUL (Khaama Press): Top UAE and UN diplomats have discussed Afghanistan’s overall situation and the prospect of collaboration.

Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Ambassador Feridun Hadi Sinirlioglu, UN-appointed Special Coordinator for the Independent Assessment of the Situation in Afghanistan.

Sheikh Abdullah reiterated the UAE’s support for the UN Security Council-mandated Independent Assessment of the Situation in Afghanistan.

The UAE’s initiatives for supporting Afghanistan and its people across various sectors highlighted the importance of bolstering international cooperation to tackle the challenges facing the people in Afghanistan, including women, and support efforts to meet their needs, according to the Emirates News Agency.

After the meeting, the top diplomat for the UAE wished Ambassador Sinirliolu success in carrying out his responsibilities and reaffirmed the UAE’s steadfast commitment to supporting all global initiatives that aim to bring peace, stability, and prosperity to the Afghan people.

Since the Taliban took over Afghanistan, the UAE has provided humanitarian support to the people of Afghanistan, particularly in medical and food supplies to Afghanistan, to meet the needs of families affected by natural disasters.

According to the UAE’s Foreign Ministry, the country’s humanitarian operations in Afghanistan from 2021 to 2022 included the creation of a relief air bridge that dispatched 28 planes with 623 tonnes of food and medical supplies, helping about 1.1 million people, including 850,000 women and children.
