Uzbekistan to invest in coal extraction, electricity production and cement

KABUL (Khaama News): The Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan stated in a meeting with the Acting Prime Minister that his country intends to invest in establishing a cement factory, coal extraction, and producing 200 megawatts of electricity from coal in Afghanistan.
The office of the Acting Prime Minister announced that Bakhtiyar Sahidov, the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan and his country’s special representative for Afghanistan affairs, met with Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund on Tuesday.
The statement said that the Uzbek Foreign Minister expressed his country’s desire to share its experiences in adapting economic and agricultural projects with Afghanistan. Sahidov also said that a technical delegation from Uzbekistan will soon travel to Afghanistan to assess the Afghan-Trans railway project.
Mullah Hasan Akhund, said that Kabul is cooperating to align Uzbekistan’s projects in Afghanistan. He instructed relevant departments and officials to coordinate and fully cooperate with Uzbekistan in implementing these projects.
Meanwhile, during his visit to Kabul, Bakhtiyar Sahidov, the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, also had separate meetings with other officials in Kabul, including Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Deputy Economic Minister of the Acting Prime Minister, Abdul Salam Hanafi, the Administrative Deputy of the Prime Minister’s Office, and Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban.
