Anniversary of Afghan-Turk friendship marked

KABUL: The 99th anniversary of Afghanistan and Turkey friendship was marked at an exhibition in Kabul.

Historical documents and ancient pieces were put on show at the exhibition.

Also, photos of Afghan King Amanullah Khan with Turkish leaders, including Mustafa Kemal Atatürk during official visits were among the photos put on display at the event.

Turkey’s Ambassador to Kabul, Oguzhan Ertugrul, said Afghanistan and Turkey have common cultural values and that these values have helped the two nations to keep their friendship for years. He insisted that the two countries and the people of the two nations should continue their relations and friendship.

“The two countries, the two nations and the people of the two nations are friends. Our ancestors were living here 200 years ago, and it shows that our ancestors were living in one geography,” said Ertugrul.

The Deputy Minister of Information and Culture, Rasul Bawari, said the two countries should expand their relations and friendship.

“The documents and manuscripts you see here in this exhibition indicate that the friendship is not only among the governments, but also among the people of the two nations,” said Bawari.
