Army, jirga announce joint anti-polio campaign in Waziristan

PESHAWAR : In an attempt to eradicate polio from the tribal belt, the Atmanzai Jirga in North Waziristan has announced to launch a joint campaign with the Pakistan Army and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to eradicate the perilous polio virus from the region.

In this regard a regional committee consisting of credible and senior leaders of Jirga has also been formed.

Atmanzai Jirga fully supported the Pakistan Army initiative to make a polio-free North Waziristan as local authorities actively leveraging their resources to eliminate the virus not only from North Waziristan but also from other merged districts.

After the announcement of Jirga, future generations in North Waziristan will be protected from deadly diseases like polio.

The joint initiative is poised to safeguard future generations from the devastating impacts of polio, echoing a commitment to public health and well-being in the region. The collaboration aims not only to treat current cases but also to implement preventive measures to ensure a sustained polio-free environment.

Expressing solidarity with the efforts of the Pakistan Army, the Atmanzai Jirga emphasized the active participation of the local populace in fostering prosperity and development.
The people of North Waziristan also vowed to contribute significantly to the success of the campaign.
