Jashn-e-Baharan to starts from 21st

HAFIZABAD: Jashn-e-Baharan will be organized in the Municipal Stadium Hafizabad from March 21 to 23 for providing positive recreational facilities which were inevitable for mental and physical growth of players of different games as well as the fans, the Deputy Commissioner Saleha Saeed said here.

In this connection a meeting of the administration was held to review the arrangements being made by the administration, MCs and NGOs in which the DC stressed upon the Chairmen of MCs Hafizabad Haji Jamshed Abbas Thaheem, Jalalpur Bhattian Mian Zahid Hussain Bhatti, Sukheke Nasir Qayyum Bhatti, ACs Hafizabad and Pindi Bhattian, Deputy Director Social Welfare, representatives of Gujranwala Art Council representatives of different NGOs and members of civil society to ensure to organize the spring festival in a befitting manner. She highlighted the necessity of holding of such events and called upon the traders, NGOs and well-to-do people to extend their active cooperation in making the event successful.

She further said that hockey, Kabaddi, wrestling, tent pegging competitions would be organized while puppet show, sufi night, folk music, exhibition of flowers etc. would be organized in collaboration with Gujranwala Arts Council. The Chairmen of MCs and members of civil society have assured that they would provide best possible recreational facilities to the citizens.

A ‘mushaira’ also be held in the Jinnah Public Hall-cum-Press Club Hafizabad. Woman injured: A gypsy woman was fatally injured when unidentified bandits stormed into the hutments of gypsies near Pindi Bhattian last night.

According to police source, more than five bandits intruded into the ‘juggies’ of gypsies near Dullah Bhatti Chowk Pindi Bhattian and made off household articles from the occupants but when they attempted to deprive Kalsoom Bibi of her belongings, she displayed courage and resist their attempt. In the meantime, one of the dacoits opened firing as a result of which she was critically injured and shifted to THQ Pindi Bhattian from where she was referred to Allied Hospital Faisalabad due to her precarious condition but she succumbed to her wounds after few hours’ treatment.

Later, the gypsies took out a rally and staged sit-in demonstration at the Dullah Bhatti Chowk, blocked the traffic for more than two hours raising slogans against the police and demanded immediate arrest of the accused. The police are investigating.
