F.P. Report

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) inquiry report against former Punjab chief minister and PTI President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and his son, also a PTI leader, Chaudhry Moonis Elahi in the case of receiving kickbacks in awarding of government contracts has revealed that the latter was involved in money laundering and other corrupt practices, on Wednesday.

The report further discloses that Moonis’ assets increased after his father Chaudhry Pervaiz became the Punjab chief minister.

The report states that Moonis received commission through his front men Azmat Hayat and Sohail Asghar, and that from July 2022 onwards he deposited hefty amounts in his bank accounts in both local and foreign currencies.

Furthermore, it has been disclosed, after July 2022, he bought over 384 kanals of land in lieu of Rs72 million, and that it appears that he purchased the land with the money he minted through kickbacks. “Moonis exploited his father’s position as the Punjab chief minister,” reads the report.

It further alleges that the PTI leader awarded contracts to his favourites in Gujrat and received bribe from them.

It is worth-mentioning here that Chaudhry Pervaiz is already in the NAB’s custody in the same case.
