F.P. Report

JAMRUD: A protest rally against merging of the ex-tribal region into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) was held here at Bab-e-Khyber, Jamrud on Saturday.

Under the banner of Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA) Quomi Jirga, large number of tribal elders, workers of Qabailistan Tahaffuz Movement, Qabail Awami Party gathered at Bab-e- Khyber to resent the allegedly forced merging of ex-tribal region into KP.

Addressing on the occasion the jirga leaders including Malik Bismallah Khan, Malik Khan Marjan Wazir, Azam Khan Mehsud, Najeedur Rehman Aurkzai, Malik Tehmash Khan and others said that former FATA had been merged into KP without approval of tribesmen.

Promises made with the tribal have not been materialized so far; however in the name of merging, all resources of tribesmen have been stolen, they remarked.

They went on that the patwar system, implemented in FATA, should abolish and restore structure based on local rites and tradition.

Under the local Rasmo rewaj(traditional law)all problems of the tribesmen had been resolved in good manners that needed to  be re-established, they opined.

They appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to formulate a larger bench on the FATA merging case and keeping in view ground facts, restoring the previous status of the ex- tribal region.

At the end the protestors while carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans in favor of their demands, marched from Bab-e-Khyber to Jamrud Press club where it dispersed peacefully.
